How often should I check the Rehearsal Schedule?

Every effort is made to stick to the schedule that is designed at the time of the Role Offers. There are, however, situations where changes must be made. It’s best to confirm your schedule online the day of rehearsal.

What is the “1 MISS RULE”?

If you miss more than 1 rehearsal for any reason, one or more of your performances may go to your understudy or alternate in that role. You should let your rehearsal director know about any planned misses, but please also keep in mind that unexpected events, such as sick days, count toward the 1 miss rule. Also, it is very unprofessional for one of your misses to be the first rehearsal where in many cases, all the choreography for your role will be taught. In some cases, if you miss 2 rehearsals, you would be missing 50% of your rehearsal time which might affect whether you feel prepared to be at your best in your performances, so having perfect attendance is really the better plan.

What if I know I can’t make all the rehearsals?

If you know you will miss more than 1 rehearsal for your role you may:

  • Request to be considered for a different role with a rehearsal schedule to which you can commit. You may be asked to attend the second audition before you could be assigned a different role. OR
  • Understudy the role you were cast in, come to as many rehearsals as you can and, if someone cannot perform the role, be available to step into the role. OR
  • Decline to participate this year. We hope you would plan to attend the shows and take on the important role of “audience”.

What is the Parent Orientation Meeting?

This year, we will gather parents and adult performers together at one meeting where we can share important information, meet other parents, answer your questions and collect the fees. A great way to prepare for the meeting if you are new to our production this year: VIDEO 3 The Nutcracker story tells story of The Nutcracker Ballet, and a little of the history behind this family tradition and IDT.

What is a Fitting?

It is imperative that you attend your costume fitting wearing a leotard so you can be assigned a costume and any necessary alterations can be planned. Weather permitting, these will be held outdoors in the South parking lot dress accordingly. Each role is assigned a date/time because it’s important to see the entire cast of each role ALL AT ONCE…promptness is a blessing to everyone that shares your role. Bring the shoes you will be wearing for your role or find out what you’ll need to purchase.
