Cathy Bergman started as a Nutcracker Rehearsal Director / Choreographer for the Angel Scene in 2002 and continues to bring her magic to the Scene, after many years working with both Des Moines Civic Ballet and Iowa Dance Theatre in publicity, marketing and ad sales. She was the coordinator for IDT’s Tap Des Moines – a moving tap parade – from about 1993 to 2008 (approximately). Due to popular demand, IDT revived Tap Des Moines in 2016, with Cathy at the helm again.
Cathy has taught dance for more than 30 years in the Des Moines area. While she has a BS degree in Speech Pathology, she also took many classes in dance, kinesiology and physiology. She has studied with Shirley Weaver from the Kansas City Civic Ballet and Gloria English at Central Missouri State University. She was Vice President and teacher at CSMU Dance Theatre. She studied with Mary Joyce Lind and at Iowa State University. She taught dance at Lind Dance School for many years.
