Spring Show 2017 was “The Lighter Side of the 7 Deadly Sins”, at the Urbandale Performing Arts Center on Saturday & Sunday, March 4-5, 2017.  It featured 7 alumni choreographers presenting their ideas in movement.  View photos below.

Alumni Dora Novak created a contemporary work based on Lust and Loyalty which has been performed with her company in New York City.  Kelsey Warfield, a graduating senior at Iowa State University created a battle of dance genres for Envy and Kindness.  Cathy Bergman, with assistants Gabby Leonard & Suzanne Schemmel explored the “dark Side” of Wrath in the tap genre with light sabers.  Jenn Pray’s contemporary work explored consumerism of clothing and food in her vision of Gluttony and Self-Control.  Jamie Thompson took a look at the dedication needed for military service and sometimes the resulting apathy but rebuilding of community in her work Sloth and Diligence. Ami Yaro’s campy look at Greed and Charity was full of designer shopping bags and was danced en pointe.  Balloons filled the stage as Janice Baker’s cast enjoyed taking Pride and being Humble about their ability to control such an uncontrollable prop, learning to rejoice in their triumphs while keeping perspective.

The Artistic Team for this show was Elizabeth Adams, Janice Baker and Jamie Thompson.
